Delivered by Michael McLean – Action Mental Health

Michael spent 30 years within the Government of Northern Ireland. Since leaving government services Michael has worked for AWARE as a trainer. He spent a term lecturing in Community Development at Ulster University. He has worked as a Trainer / Mediator for TIDES Training; and since 2018 worked for Action Mental Health’s MensSana Team, delivering training aimed at promoting positive mental and emotional well-being. His interest in ‘Mental Health’ comes from his own experience of ‘mental ill-health’ having been diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression in 2006. Michael really believes in the importance of challenging a lot of the myths and misconceptions around mental ill-health in order to normalise the conversation and to make people comfortable to talk about their mental health, and to seek help when they are struggling, and the importance of taking steps to look after their mental health.
