Delivered by TIDES training, in partnership with RCN

The “Working with Contentious Cultural Issues” workshops, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), will take participants on a journey through the history of flags and their meanings, into how culture and traditions are different, and the different meaning of the terms. We will also look at cultural expressions, understanding what culture is, where it comes from, and how it defines us all. We will also look at prejudice and stereotyping, and how these can lead into discrimination of someone because of the cultural beliefs.

Flags and emblems workshop and how flags are viewed,

the history of flags and the meaning behind each flag.

 

Wednesday 23rd February 2022, 9.30am-12.00noon

Understand the meaning of the terms culture and traditions,

and recognising culture and traditions as part of our identity.

 

Wednesday 2nd March 2022, 9.30am-12.00noon

Understanding methods of cultural expression. Understanding cultural differences.

 

Wednesday 9th March 2022, 9.30am-12.00noon

Understanding prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination

 

Every opportunity will be given to examine events, share information

and acknowledge the past. Participants will be encouraged to engage in facilitated friendly discussions around the training.
