Community Activism in a Changing Rural Context

A report of research carried out by Rural Community Network funded by Carnegie UK Trust.

The report presents the key findings from research carried out with a sample of grass roots voluntary community groups across Northern Ireland in 2008/2009.

The aim of the research was two fold:

  1. To raise awareness of the challenges faced in sustaining rural community development activity at a local level

  2. To build the capacity of local rural community activists, as key rural assets, to meet these challenges and support them in maximising their contribution to the development of sustainable and resilient rural communities.
