Peninsula Hospital Transport Scheme Launched

A new scheme assisting the over 60s was launched on 1st June at a meeting which brought together local elected representatives to discuss older peoples’ issues for people living in the Ards Peninsula.

The Peninsula Hospital Transport Scheme aims to help older people who often find it difficult to attend their hospital appointments.  The Scheme provides a volunteer driver to pick older people up directly from their home, drive them to the hospital, wait for them and take them home after the appointment.  There is a cost associated with this service which has been subsidised by Down Community Transport and the Rural Community Network’s Rural Older People Skills for Solutions Programme.

To find out more about the scheme or make a booking, contact Down Community Transport on 028 4461 7900. To find out more on Rural Community Network’s Skills for Solutions Programme in Ards, check out our website on www.ruralcommunitynetwork.org or our Facebook page.
