Small Stones... Big Ripple

The Ards Peninsula Connecting Seniors Group’ recently developed a booklet to increase awareness that there is a dedicated group focusing on older peoples issues in the area.  The group recognises that they must make themselves more widely known among the local community, elected representatives and statutory bodies about their purpose and their focus of work as the Skills for Solutions project develops in the area.  They hope to launch this booklet at an event in the area in March 2011.

The group has also developed an action plan which prioritises key actions.  The key themes of influencing others, improving services and increasing opportunities are central to their vision.  The group is organising an Ards Peninsula Community Health Fair to help provide some valuable information on health for the over 60s living in the Ards Peninsula area and is keen for all interested in this event to come along to see what is available.  The event will take place on Wednesday 16th February in Carrowdore Community Centre from 11am – 3pm.  To find out more or enquire about free transport for the event, contact Caroline on 028 8676 6670.
