National Occupational Standards for Community Development
This is the third generation of the National Occupational Standards and this version was produced following an extensive consultation process across the community sector in England, Scotland, Wales and NI. The NOS includes a definition for community development practice along with the values that underpin community development work. They also set out the 25 standards that identify the roles community development workers undertake as part of the process, as well as outlining the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to carry out the roles.
The updated National Occupational Standards for Community Development are now live on the UK CES website and can be downloaded by clicking this link http://tinyurl.com/yl36wr9
This is a ninety five page document and can be a bit unwieldy. Another option is to click on this link http://tinyurl.com/yk73mex for a four page summary that is much more accessible produced by the Federation for Community Development Learning (FCDL) and other partners. FCDL is asking for comments on the design by 17 March.
