
Why should I become a member of Rural Community Network?
You will receive:
- A unique membership number which gives unrestricted access to our website.
- Priority access to our Annual Training Programme. This includes invitations to seminars and meetings which explore best practice in capacity building and community development on a local, regional, european and international level. You will also have the opportunity to participate in accredited training courses on capacity building and community development.
- Annual subscription to Rural Network News, a unique magazine that aims to articulate the voice of rural communities and address critical issues relating to poverty, disadvantage and equality (two publications a year).
- Annual subscription to Policy Link (four times a year), an update on the rural policy issues which matter to you.
- Annual subscription to Rural Brief, an update on the current issues and events relevant to rural communities (10 issues per year).
- Promotion of your community centre/venue to interested parties.
- Promotion of your group on our website – each member will be allocated space to include 150 words and a logo, if available.
- Reduced rates to insert relevant information/promotional literature as part of membership mail outs.
- Access to a comprehensive collection of resource fact sheets and publications providing practical, up to date advice on good community development practice, communications, governance, evaluation, management and finance. Many of these publications are online.
- Invitation to policy consultations that will feed into debate and raise concerns about government policies and strategies which affect the rural communities.
- Email bulletins on news and events around rural issues.
- Access to RCN’s research library which provides a comprehensive range of publications on subjects pertinent to all aspects of rural community development.
- Preferential access to conference and meeting facilities with discounted rates.
- Invitation to our Annual Conference and AGM which is a focal point of the rural community calendar. This event provides an opportunity to raise the profile of rural community development practice and to further influence government policies and strategies that affect rural communities.

- As well as all of the above, members will receive a Certificate of Membership and a corporate gift on joining.
We aim to be accessible to all members of the rural voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. As a result, new organisations with an income of less than £1,000 per annum will be offered free membership for the first year.
